Do We Need Multiple Domains?

Why have more than one domain?

Looking at the way most public XMPP servers use their domains, I think about how many I actually need or want. Excellent, services like blabber.im and creep.im, make use of only one domain. Where they need to divide for extra services like multi-user chat, they just create a sub-domain. Nevertheless, I have acquired multiple domains.

The e2e.ee service includes following domains:

  • e2e.ee
  • e2e.chat
  • noarchive.chat
  • e2e.wtf

Here is the purpose for each one:

e2e.ee

This domain will be the principal domain of the service and where the primary website for registering an account will be found.

e2e.chat

This domain will be for multi-user chat rooms.

noarchive.chat

This domain will be for people who want to chat without leaving copies of their messages on the server.

e2e.wtf

A duplicate domain for people with a sense of humor! WTF!!

I will also create some subdomains. Here:

  • ee.e2e.ee
  • upload.e2e.ee
  • proxy.e2e.ee
  • pastebin.e2e.ee
