What you can and cannot do

One‑on‑one Chats

Chats between two individuals in a one‑on‑one channel are considered by e2e.ee to be private information. Chat history will not be reviewed intentionally by e2e.ee, although, you should be aware that the messages that are archived are viewable to us and to those who own and control the servers at Digital Ocean. Please use end‑to‑end encryption to ensure that your one‑on‑one chats remain private even if viewed by others. Chats between people using the noarchive.chat domain or done in intermittent chatrooms are inaccessible to the server administrators because the message history is not stored on disk.

Shared Files

Files sent to the server using http upload are visible to e2e.ee and to those who own and control the servers at Digital Ocean. You should encrypt files to ensure that no one but the sender and recipient can view them.

Follow these rules for the files you share on e2e.ee:

  • No pornography
  • No racism
  • No gore or graphic depictions of violence
  • No xenophobia, nationalism, casteism, or fascism
  • No excessive self-promotion
  • No promotion of products or services to those who have not shown interest
  • No sexual depictions that include children
  • No sharing of other people’s personally identifying information
  • No promotion of illegal substances
  • No promotion of illegal activities
  • No illegal sharing of copyrighted material

Multi‑user Chatrooms

Regardless of whether a chatroom is public or private, you must follow these rules:

  • No harrassment of other members of the chatroom
  • No racism
  • No xenophobia, nationalism, casteism, or fascism
  • No spamming or repetitive posting
  • No promotion of products or services to those who have not shown interest
  • No promotion of illegal activities
  • No sharing of other people’s personally identifying information
  • No recruiting others to commit illegal acts
  • No naming a chatroom with words that violate previously mentioned rules

Harassment

If you have been harassed by someone, take the following actions:

  • Request the chatroom administrator to ban the perpetrator
  • Exit the chatroom
  • If you know the XMPP ID of the perpetrator, block him
  • Inform the e2e.ee site administrator in the support chatroom support@e2e.chat.
